Join us for a community support group for LGBTQ people from the SWANA (Southwest Asian and North African) region, also commonly referred to as MENA (Middle East and North Africa). The group provides a welcoming and supportive space to connect with others, share experiences, discuss challenges, and exchange strategies for navigating experiences that affect our community.
The group is facilitated by one of Tarab NYC’s trained peer support facilitators and takes place at the LGBT Center in Manhattan. This is a peer support group, not a therapy or clinical treatment session. Our facilitators and organizers do not provide healthcare or mental health services, and the group is not a substitute for professional care.

Community Guidelines & Important Information
- Participants must be LGBTQ and Middle Eastern and/or North African.
- Registration is required at least 24 hours in advance, and attendance must be approved by the facilitator.
- Please arrive no later than 6:45 PM to minimize interruptions. Late arrivals may not be permitted to join once the discussion is underway.
- Participation is voluntary, and participants are encouraged to share only what they feel comfortable sharing.
- We ask everyone to respect the privacy of others and keep personal information and experiences shared during the group confidential, however we cannot guarantee absolute confidentiality.
- Participants may not record, photograph, or share identifying information about other attendees without their explicit consent.
- The discussion is participant-led and may cover a range of topics and experiences. Please be respectful of different perspectives, experiences, and boundaries.
- The session is limited to 12 participants to maintain a small and supportive environment.
