A Message From Bashar on Celebrating Four Years of Tarab NYC Tonight!

TarabBirthday

Hi Everyone!

Tonight at Henrietta Hudon we celebrate four years of Tarab NYC! Four years ago, with help from the community I started Tarab NYC as a party and two years ago Tarab NYC began transitioning into the community organization it is today.  Over the past four years, Tarab NYC created over 40, yes, FOURTY events for the community including dance parties, mixers, picnics, community discussions, beach parties, protests, workshops, QPOC collaborations, and so much more.

Along the way, former board members Ehab Ismail and Sam Tabet helped create the foundation of the organization. The amazing Amireh Kharchla served on the board for two years and honestly, we could not have done it without her voice, courage, organizing, and love. Today I am honored to work alongside fellow board members Alia Elsayed, Hilal Khalil, and Taif Rady and I can’t wait for whats next in our journey.

Truly, the community has been our biggest support by showing up, organizing, and participating in our programs. Now more than ever, we need the community’s support. Starting today, in celebration of four years of Tarab NYC, we will be launching our new fundraising campaign and we will begin seeking new board members.

In order to support programming, events and community needs for the remainder of the year, we are asking our community to help us raise $6,000 over the next month. Your support will allow us to raise visibility at pride, launch a discussion and support group, record and share our stories, raise aware on our issues, and develop leadership within our community.

Will you help us build the power, leadership and voice of the Queer Middle Eastern and North African community? If so, please consider making a donation of $25 or more (or whatever you can afford) and support our campaign!

Please click here to donate and I cannot wait to see you all tonight! Oh and its also my birthday (yay!), and a donation to Tarab NYC would be the perfect gift you could give me!

Bil Tarab,

The Tarab NYC Board
